Hi everyone! This week we will have stories about Valentine’s day, things we love and friendship.

Opening song – So Happy You’re Here Today – Hap Palmer

Book – Pete the Cat Valentine’s Day Is Cool  by Kimberly and James Dean – Pete the Cat thinks Valentine’s Day isn’t cool . . . until he realizes how many special cats there are in his life! Pete works hard to make valentines for everyone, and it turns out to be the grooviest Valentine’s Day ever. But what happens when he realizes he’s forgotten to make a card for a very important cat?

Action Rhyme: “Little Heart”
I have a little heart, (place hand over heart)
And it goes thump, thump, thump (pat chest three times)
It keeps right on beating,
When I jump, jump, jump (jump three times)
I get a special feeling, when I look at you. (point to child)
It makes me want to give you a hug or two. (hug yourself)

Flannelboard- Five Little Valentines

Five little valentines were having a race
The first little valentine was frilly with lace.
The second little valentine had a funny face.
The third little valentine said, “I love you”.
The fourth little valentine said, “I do too”.
The fifth little valentine was sly as a fox.
He ran the fastest to the valentine box.

To each and every friend of mine
I’ll send a lovely valentine.
Mom, Dad, Sis, and Brother, too.
Will receive a heart that says,
“I love you.”

Book – Foxy in Love – Emma Dodd- Foxy uses his magic tail to solve Emily’s dilemma.  Once again Foxy’s friend Emily needs his help, big-time! Emily is trying to make a Valentine’s Day card, and she needs Foxy to remind her of all the things that she loves most. From birthday cakes to gardens with rainbows, Foxy is able to make everything Emily loves magically appear—but sometimes he makes a mistake (Emily loves balloons, not raccoons!)  Luckily Foxy can always find a good solution when things go wrong . . . and he knows just the right way to make Emily’s Valentine’s Day card complete!

Who Has a Red Heart? Game
I will give  every child a different colored heart. When I sing the name of the color, the child with that color heart will bring  it to the front of the class to give to me.
Book – Love Monster and the Last Chocolate– by Rachel Bright- When Love Monster comes home from vacation, he discovers a box of chocolates on his doorstep. He knows he should share it with his friends, but what if there’s none left for him after everyone has a piece? What if they take his favorite-the double chocolate strawberry swirl? And even worse-what if the only piece left is the coffee-flavored one? Ick! In the end, Love Monster learns that sharing with friends is the sweetest treat of all.
