Preschool Storytime – Fall 10/21/15

Hello everyone! This week we will talk about the fall season, apples and pumpkins. I will show pictures of fall things that the children can identify.

Opening song – So Happy You’re Here Today! – by Hap Palmer

Book – I Know It’s Autumn – by Eileen Spinelli – A rhyming celebration of the sights, smells, and sounds of autumn, such as pumpkin muffins, turkey stickers on spelling papers, and piles of raked leaves.

Fingerplay- “Five Little Leaves”
Five little leaves so bright and gay  (Hold up five fingers)
Were dancing about on a tree one day.  (Wiggle fingers on one hand)
The wind came blowing through the town. (Cup hand around mouth and make wind noises)
Ooooooooo……………Ooooooooooooooo………
One little leaf came tumbling down.    (Bend down one finger)

Four little leaves so bright and gay,    (Hold up four fingers)
Were dancing about on a tree one day.  (Wiggle four fingers)
The wind came blowing through the town,   (Cup hand around mouth and make wind noises)
Oooooooo…………….Oooooooooooo……………….
One little leaf came tumbling down   (Bend down another finger)

The third one said, “Let’s get busy; there are nuts to be found.” (Hold up three fingers.)
The fourth one said, “We better not wait.” (Hold up four fingers.)
The fifth one said, “Fall is really great!” (Hold up five fingers.)

Book – We’re Going on a Leaf Hunt – by Steve Metzger- There are lots of beautiful fall leaves to find! Three friends have a big adventure hiking over a mountain and through a forest to collect leaves of all kinds and colors.
