Preschool Storytime 2/25/15- Dogs

Welcome back everyone to our second winter/spring storytime session!  This week we will have a storytime about dogs.  There are a lot of books out there about dogs it was so hard to decide but I decided to do some funny ones.

Welcome song – So Happy You’re Here Today – Hap Palmer

Book –Katie Loves the Kittens – by John Himmelman- When Sara Ann brings home three kittens, Katie the dog’s enthusiasm frightens the kittens away, until she learns that quiet patience is needed to begin a friendship.

Fingerplay: “Ten Little Doggies”
Ten little doggies went out one day, (hold up ten fingers)
To dig in the dirt and play, play, play. (dig, slap knees on each ‘play’)
Five were spotted, and five were not, (hold up one hand, then the other)
And at dinnertime they ate a lot! (pretend to eat)

Flannelboard/Fingerplay – “Five Little Puppies”
Five little puppies were playing in the sun. (Hold up hand, fingers extended.)
This one saw a rabbit, and he began to run. (Bend first finger.)
This one saw a butterfly, and he began to race. (Bend second finger.)
This one saw a pussycat, and he began to chase. (Bend third finger.)
This one tried to catch his tail, and he went round & round. (Bend fourth finger.)
This one was so quiet, he never made a sound. (Bend thumb.)

Book – Bark George – Jules Feiffer – A funny book about a dog who makes animal sounds when he is supposed to bark.

Book – The Doghouse by Jan Thomas – Mouse, Pig, Cow, and Duck are playing a carefree game of ball when (horror of horrors!) their ball gets kicked into . . . THE DOGHOUSE. Who will risk a run-in with scary Dog to get it back.
