Lapsit Storytime – 1/22/15 – Fishy Fun!

This week we are having some FISHY FUN!  Babies love all types of animals, and fish are no exception (as I am sure you all have noticed when your little one sees the fish tank in the Children’s Room!).  Learning about our under-sea friends is a great way to help expand your baby’s vocabulary.  Teach them the names of the different creatures: fish, lobster, octopus, crab, etc.

Our books:

Fish Wish (Barner) – A young boy wishes he could voyage underwater to a coral reef.

Hooray for Fish (Cousins) – Swim along with Little Fish to meet a variety of underwater friends.  Told in rhyme, this book will introduce many vocabulary words to little ones.  The bold and colorful illustrations will capture little one’s attention.

Nursery/Bounce Rhyme – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (Once I Caught A Fish Alive)

1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Once I caught a fish alive.
6, 7, 8, 9, 10
Then I let it go again.

Why did you let it go?
Because it bit my finger so.
Which finger did it bite?
This little finger on the right.

Song – Have You Ever Seen a Fishy?

To the tune of “Have You Ever Seen a Lassie?”

Have you ever seen a fishy,
A fishy, a fishy,
Have you ever seen a fishy,
Swim this way and that?

Swim this way and that way,
And that way and this way.
Have you ever seen a fishy,
Swim this way and that?
