Family Storytime – Winter & Snow – January 14, 2015

It’s time for Family Storytime!

For those of you returning to Family Storytime – welcome back!  For our new families – welcome to our weekly drop-in storytime program.  No registration is needed for this program, and all ages are welcome.  We’re happy to have you with us!

This week we are embracing January’s weather by reading stories about winter and snow.  Brrrr!

Our Books:

Here Comes Jack Frost (Kohara) – A little boy spends the morning playing with Jack Frost and learning about winter.

A Kitten Tale (Rohmann) – A family of kittens have never seen snow, and they are a little scared to go out in it – until one kitten is brave enough to try.

No Two Alike (Baker) – Two winter birds marvel at how unique the world is.

Action Rhyme

Walking in the Snow

Let’s go walking in the snow.
Walking, walking on tiptoe.
Lift your one foot way up high.
Then the other to keep it dry.
All around the yard we skip.
Watch your step, or you may slip.

Song

The Winter Pokey (like The Hokey Pokey)

You put your mittens in, you put your mittens out,
You put your mittens in, and you shake them all about.
You do the winter pokey and you turn yourself around,
That’s what it’s all about!

Other verses – boots, hats, coat
