Toddler Time – Wednesday 10/1/14

This week we will be talking a little about shapes.  Our book this week is:

Nursery Rhyme – Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty sat on the wall,
Humpty Dumpty has a great fall.
All the King’s horses,
and all the King’s men
Couldn’t put Humpty together again!

We can talk about Humpty Dumpty’s shape – he is egg-shaped or an oval!

Song – Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Twinkle, twinkle little star
How I wonder what you are.
Up above the world so high,
Like a diamond in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle little star
How I wonder what you are.

There are TWO shapes to point out in this song.  First, a star!  Second, we can point out what a diamond shape looks like.

Shapes are every where!  On your next errand with your child, make an effort to point out three different shapes.  It could be a car’s wheel for a circle, or the window on a house for a rectangle.  See if your child can find some shapes on his own too!
