This week we are learning all about numbers. It’s never too early to start teaching this concept to your child. Try incorporating numbers and counting in your daily routines – count the apples you buy at the grocery store, count the leaves on the trees, count baby’s toes during bathtime. You are laying the foundation for your child’s math ability later in life!
We use a lot of “Five Little” rhymes in storytime. They are great because we can use our fingers (or toes) to help illustrate the concept of 5. Five Little Ducks is a cute song based on these “five little” rhymes.
Nursery Rhyme – This Little Piggy
Bounce Rhyme – Jumping Beans
1 2 3 4 – Beans come jumping through the door!
5 6 7 8 – Jumping up onto my plate!
I also have lots of fun numbers & counting activities pinned for you on Pinterest. Check them out, and let me know if you were able to try any!
