Welcome to Time for Twos! – Fall 2014

Welcome to our Time for Twos storytime!

This class is for children who are ages 24-35 months (as of 9/1/14) and their parent/caregiver.  We have a lot of fun together, learning about early literacy, preschool concepts, and social skills – all while having a great time playing and reading.

A few tips to help you make the most of the storytime experience:

  • Arrive on time – we start promptly at 10:30, and the program is kept short (to match a toddler’s attention span).  You will miss out on the fun if you are late!
  • Join in – Time for Twos is designed as a program for both the toddler and a parent/caregiver.  Your child will benefit the most when you particpate.  Sing, bounce, and dance with us!
  • Move about – Toddlers love to explore, so feel free to move about the story area during the program.
  • Take time out – If your toddler becomes too restless or loud, feel free to step out of the story area for a few minutes.  Rejoin when you can.

We will start and end storytime with the same songs and rhymes each week.

Little Mouse (Flannelboard Activity) – Each week, Little Mouse will hide behind one of the colorful houses.  We will start with just Little Mouse hiding in the primary colored houses.  As the children learn more colors and animals, we will add other houses and animals to the rhyme.  Children will try to find Little Mouse by asking “Little Mouse, Little Mouse, Are you in the (red) house?”

This is Big, Big. Big (Closing Rhyme)

This is big, big, big (hold hands out to the side)
This is small, small, small (hold hands close in front)
This is short, short, short (hold hands close to the floor)
This is tall, tall, tall (hold hands up high)
This is fast, fast, fast (roll hands quickly in front of you)
