Lapsit Storytime – Tickle, Tickle – Thursday, March 27, 2014

This week we are reading books about tickles!  We’ll talk a little about fingers and how we can use them to tickle.  Over on Pinterest, I have a bunch of fun sensory activities pinned.  Babies love to use all of their senses to learn about their world.  When choosing activities, try to incorporate all 5 senses – touch, sight, smell, sound, and taste.  Just be careful to keep your child’s safety in mind!

Our books this week:

Ten Tiny Tickles (Karen Katz) – In classic Karen Katz style, this story counts up from 1 to 10.

I Touch (Rachel Isadora) – Rachel Isadora’s simple books are a toddler classics.  Soft illustrations supplement simple text.

Finger Like To Wiggle Waggle (Action Rhyme)

Fingers like to wiggle, waggle,
wiggle, waggle, wiggle, waggle.
Fingers like to wiggle waggle
on your head!

substitute other parts of the body for “on your head.”

Round and Round the Garden (Nursery Rhyme)

Round and round the garden,
Goes the teddy bear.
One step, two steps,
Tickle under there!

Round and round the garden,
Goes the little mouse.
Up, up, up he creeps
To his little house!

Rickety Rocking Horse (Bounce Rhyme)

Rickety, rickety rocking horse.
Over the fields we go.
Rickety, rickety rocking horse,
Giddy-up, giddy-up, WHOAAAA!

Have a great week!
