I don’t think I have ever been this excited for Spring Storytime! We NEED a little springtime – badly! And springtime is a great time for play – there are lots of ideas pinned at Pinterest!
Our books this week:
Wake Up, It’s Spring! (Lisa Campbell Ernst) – Everyone wakes up and gets ready to greet springtime.
I See Spring (Charles Ghigna) – This books covers all the typical spring activities with rhyming text and colorful illustrations.
Duck! Rabbit! (Amy Krouse Rosenthal) – It’s a duck with a long beak, right? Or is it a rabbit with long ears? Kids and adults will both enjoy seeing both a duck and a rabbit in this story.
Five Little Flowers (Fingerplay)
Five little flowers standing in the sun (hold up all 5 fingers)
See their heads nodding, bowing one by one (curl fingers)
Down, down, down comes the gentle rain (make fingers rain)
And the 5 little flowers lift up their heads again (hold up 5 fingers)
We are also having fun with a rewrite of “If You’re Happy and You Know It” but this time we’ll try to figure out if we are a DUCK or a RABBIT.
Duck/Rabbit song (If You’re Happy and You Know It)
If you’re a DUCK and you know it flap your wings.
If you’re a RABBIT and you know it wiggle your nose.
If you’re a DUCK and you know it quack out loud.
If you’re a RABBIT and you know it hop around.
We will end storytime with a quick craft – kids will be able to decorate their own Duck/Rabbit!
