We are making noise this week with a storytime all about SOUNDS.
As we get closer to springtime, point out how sounds start changing outside. Can you hear the wind whistling? Are the birds chirping? Does it sound different if you walk on snow than the plain sidewalk?
Our books about sounds are:
The Sounds Around Town (Maria Carluccio)
Clip Clop (Nicola Smee)
Our action rhyme is filled with sounds from a train yard:
The Choo Choo Train
This is the choo choo train
puffing down the track.
Now it’s going forward,
now it’s going back.
Hear the bell ringing!
Hear the whistle blow!
What a lot of noise it makes
Everywhere we go!
Our song is Walking Old Joe from Songs for Wiggleworms.
And since we are talking about sounds, we will make musical sounds of our own by singing and playing musical instruments!
