Lapsit Storytime – Parts of the Body – Thursday, November 14, 2013

How did we get to the middle of November?????  After today, we have just one more regular storytime for the fall session.  I will have handouts for both our holiday schedule as well as January storytime for you soon!

This week we will be looking at our body.  For the babies, we will focus on simple parts – eyes, nose, ears, fingers, toes.  You can help expand your baby’s vocabulary by pointing out different parts of baby’s body – when dressing, taking a bath, or playing.  Point out elbows, knees, throat, back, chest and more.  Your baby will not only learn about her body, but also new words that she will master in no time!

Our books:

We will use the “This Little Piggy” rhyme to tickle some toes!

This little piggy went to market,
This little piggy stayed home.
This little piggy had roast beef,
This little piggy had none.
And this little piggy cried “wee, wee, wee” all the way home.

Our bounce rhyme is “Pizza Pizza Pumpernickel”

Pizza pizza pumpernickel
My little guy should have a tickle!
One for his nose!
One for his toes!
And one for his belly where the hot dog goes!

We will also take a look at the classic nursery rhyme “Jack and Jill.”

Jack and Jill went up the hill,
To fetch a pail of water.
Jack fell down and broke his crown,
and Jill came tumbling after.
