Time for Twos Storytime – Noisy & Quiet – Friday, November 1, 2013

This week we are going to be NOISY & QUIET!  I am sure your toddlers are REALLY good at the noisy part, right?

While it’s just fun to just make noise, we are also reinforcing the concept of opposites.  We do this every week when we recite “This is Big, Big, Big.”  You can reinforce the concept of opposites at home with simple observations such as “that tree is very big, but this acorn is very small.”  Sensory play is a great way to reinforce opposites – think about sticky, slimy, smooth, rough, shiny, bumpy and gooey.

Our books this week include:

Flannelboard & Rhyme – Popcorn

Five little kernels, sizzling in the pot.|
All of the sudden, one went POP!

Repeat for 4, 3, 2, 1

Rhyme – The Quiet Mouse

Here’s a quiet little mouse,
Living in a quiet little house.
When all was as quiet as can be
OUT!  Popped he!

Action Rhyme – Loud & Quiet

Quietly, quietly now a sound
I’m listening and thinking as I look around.
No sounds as I nod.
No sounds as I clap.
No sounds as I tap my hands on my lap.
Loudly, loudly, stomp & clap!
Loudly, loudly, stomp & clap!
Loudly, loudly, stomp & clap!
All that noise, well fancy that!

Don’t forget to check Pintrest!  Lots of Noisy & Quiet activities there!
